I have been blessed with attending a great school filled with involved and caring students, but after reading "C-SPAN bus rolls into town, but students still skeptical of political process", I am not quite sure that's what the world thinks. Some of the most intellectual classmates I have seemed to be dumbed down to citizens who care more about a good meal at McDonalds than involvement in our country's political process. Immediately after reading the article, I knew that my classmates had been misunderstood by the reporter, Miss Colias.
Each of my classmates that were listed in the article had trouble recollecting the quotes that she included in her article. They recognized that the only time that they said such negative things about the political process is when they were either speaking of reasons other people dislike the political process; the opinions listed as theirs were not their own genuine opinions. It was astounding how the reporter twisted their words so that they seemed to imply something far from reality.
I agree with you good sir. The only thing that I would say that would justify the article is that it may not have been entirely hers. We were told by a certain someone that they did enjoy rewriting articles/stories. Our classmates did seem misrepresented and that may seem as "not a big deal" to others, then have they need to be misrepresented and then let them say it again.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this article completely misrepresented not only the students interviewed but also our school. The editor of the newspaper said we should get used to the real world and that this is how the news works. In reply I would like to point out that the purpose of the media should be true information. It is NOT the purpose of the media to misrepresent people and their opinions.
ReplyDeleteI agree that our school has much more to show than what was displayed by this article. The reporter should have asked what we have done in our community to stay involved in politics, and I feel like we would have been able to share multiple things, especially Giles and Andrew who went to Boy's State.
ReplyDeleteWill, you are very good at expressing your critical opinions in a polite and respecful manner. I like how you proved the inaccuracy of the article by building up your classmates. Very well done.
